Tours on Tuesday-McKenzie

Today we headed off to Quantico, VA to tour the FBI Academy. On the way there it we had to go through a military check point, which was more pretty intense but quite understandable with recent events. After arriving at the FBI we got tour where they practice shooting and got to see a practice helicopter run. Next we were taken upstairs to the behavioral science floor where they had a life size talking model of Hannibal Lector, since a lot of scenes from the movie were actually shot on the grounds. We also got to see a model town that they use to practice raids and searches with. The whole "town" was so life like it looked like it could be a neighborhood.

After we left Quantico, we headed back to Arlington first to tour the different memorials and Arlington Cemetary. We started that tour with driving by the Pentagon and our guide pointed out the fact that you can see the remodeled section done after 911. We also drove over to see the Air Force memorial which over looks most of D.C and is one of the newest memorials added. Next we went to the Iwo Jima Memorial and Arlington Cemetary. At the Cemetary we had the chance to see the Kennedy graves and then also the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, and we saw the changing of the guards which is a small ceremony of sort, that was pretty amazing how precise they are with it. Last on our stop out was to go to the Korean War Memorial, with a wall etched with pictures of soldiers to symbolize all of the people lost along with statues that look like they are hiking through the terrain. Then there was the Vietnam Memorial which is a wall of names that starts out small and goes up along with the list of names of the fallen soldiers. Though the monument that was most excited to see was The Lincoln monument. Being from Springfield, IL and growing up with Lincoln all over, he became my favorite president so being able to his national memorial was amazing.Thought I was disappointed that the reflecting pool between the Lincoln and Washington Monuments was being renovated while we were there but it was still cool to see both of them.
well I guess that is all for tonight. I'm going to go get started on packing back up since we have to check out before we leave for the ATF tomorrow.
